The new world of car lighting is knocking at your door. With all those stylish looks and features that can take you by storm, these modern lighting systems are all set to enhance the beauty of your car. Whether it is the all important headlights or the multi-purpose tail lights, they have all been the outcome of an extensive research with the sole motive of giving you a ride that is worth remembering.

The car lighting system of today marks a radical departure from the older techniques employed in this field. While the function of the older car’s headlights was to only lighten up the road, the newer headlights focus on style as much as on performance. On the basis of its usage, the car lights can be classified into three groups: the fog lights, the projector headlights, and the tail lights. The fog lights are used to illumine the road during foggy weather. With their specially designed low beams, they are well suited to lighten up the roads during fog. The projector headlights are perhaps the most important part of the car. From the halogen lights to high power halogen lights to High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights to the recent LED lights, they have witnessed rapid developments according to the demands and the ever changing style. Tail lights on the other hand are indicative of the possible moves that a driver to going to take while driving. They basically comprise of reverse lights for reversing, brake lights that glow when brakes are applied and signal lights for signalling a left or a right turn.

If someone were to know more about the modern methods of car lighting, then he would surely come across a term, HID, which has changed the lighting technology head over heels. The HID bulbs are filament-less and their output light is 200% stronger than the halogen bulbs. Moreover the absence of filament gives it a life-span that is almost ten times that of halogen bulbs. And the list of advantages does not end here. Not only do they emit highly intense light, but they do so at half the power consumed by the halogen lights. Their brighter light helps the driver in locating pedestrians, cyclists with ease thereby making driving a much more relaxed and a comfortable experience.

On the other hand, LED’s too have started to gain popularity as head and tail lights. Though they were launched primarily for being used as tail lights, in 2007 they also debuted as headlights. With their intense glow and availability in several colours they are fast becoming the first choice among many car owners. One added advantage with them is that it is cost-effective and suits all sizes of pockets. Both these LED lights and the HID lights are easy to install in the car and they come with detailed instruction manual to enable the car owner to install them on his own.

One can typically find the headlight bulbs as either white or blue. The white bulb can give you almost 50% more light. They in fact outperform the factory issued lights. With them one can see 20 metres farther than other bulbs. They also project more light on the road signs and hence they become easier to read.

The blue bulb is primarily designed for people with poor visibility at night. These bulbs are externally coated with blue colour to improve the road visibility at night by producing light that is closer to the daylight. The usage of such kind of bulbs at night also minimizes the danger of accidents.

So its time to browse the net and look for the type of headlight and tail light that suits your personality the most.
